PDF stores a fixed visual page, while Word represents editable document structure. Conversion must infer paragraphs, reading order, tables, and images, so the result depends heavily on how the PDF was created.

For a two-page report, convert the PDF, then check that both pages appear in the DOCX. Edit a heading and a paragraph to confirm they are editable. Compare a table row with the original, especially amounts and column order. This is a check to perform on your own file, not a guarantee of identical layout.

Limitations and common mistakes

PDF and Word describe pages differently. Columns, equations, merged cells and unusual fonts may move. Text recovery may append recovered content when conversion misses text; check for duplicate passages. Scanned text recovery is best effort and can fail. A conversion does not make a document accurate or safe to share.

How to use PDF to Word

  1. Choose a non-encrypted PDF smaller than 25 MB.

  3. Download the DOCX and open it in your word processor.
